About

An independent shop, one product line

Harbour Row Service has repaired Viking appliances on this stretch of coast since 2016.

Position

What we are, plainly

An independent shop, with no manufacturer appointment and no service contract behind it. The full legal notice is printed in the footer of every page on this site.

Independent means nobody hands us a parts allocation or a service bulletin. It also means nobody tells us how long a job should take, so we can spend the time a fault actually needs.

We repair Viking appliances and no other brand. That is a deliberate limit. One product line is small enough to know properly.

Two things about the name, since both get us the wrong telephone call. Viking here is the appliance manufacturer — the range under the hood, the built-in refrigerator behind the panel — and not the small place of the same name in Indian River County, a couple of hundred miles down the coast, which we have no connection to and do not work in. And a kitchen appliance shop is all this is: we do not fit or repair furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers, condensing units, thermostats or the ducting that serves them. The one duct on our list is the extraction run above a range hood, which carries cooking air outside and is not part of the system that cools a house. Heating and air conditioning belong to a different trade, and we would rather name it than take the booking.

Credentials

What we hold

  • EPA Section 608 certified technicians.
  • Licensed and insured in the State of Florida.

Sealed-system work on refrigeration is done under EPA Section 608 certification, which is a federal refrigerant-handling credential — not a manufacturer credential.

Terms

The commercial part

  • $80 flat diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair when you approve the work.
  • You get a written estimate before any part is ordered or any labour begins.
  • 90 days on our labour, 365 days on the parts we supply. Genuine OEM parts.
  • We work Ponte Vedra Beach and St. Johns County, roughly 40 miles out.

The price list and the warranty terms are both written out in full.

Local conditions

Why the coast is different

Tap water in 32082 is published by JEA at 346 ppm (20 grains per gallon). Scale at that concentration is not a nuisance, it is the reason ice maker fill valves stick, dishwasher spray arms block and steam-producing appliances lose their calibration.

Salt air off the Atlantic reaches every kitchen in 32082. It pits range grates, corrodes hood blower housings, hazes stainless panels and attacks outdoor grill hardware.

Questions

Asked often

Are you affiliated with Viking?
No. Harbour Row Service is an independent shop. We repair Viking appliances and we say so plainly, which is not the same thing as being appointed by the manufacturer. The full affiliation notice sits at the foot of every page.
Which Viking is this?
The appliance manufacturer. Viking builds kitchen equipment - ranges and rangetops, wall ovens, built-in refrigeration and wine storage, dishwashers, extraction hoods and outdoor grills - and that is the machinery we repair. There is also a small place called Viking in Indian River County, a couple of hundred miles down the coast. We have no connection to it and we do not work there. Our ground is Ponte Vedra Beach and St. Johns County.
How far do you travel?
We work Ponte Vedra Beach and the rest of St. Johns County, roughly forty miles out. Travel inside that radius is included in the diagnostic fee. If you are outside it, ask, and we will give you a straight answer about whether we can help rather than a maybe.
Do you offer emergency or overnight call-outs?
No. We work scheduled appointments Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and Saturday 9am to 4pm. Booking a defined window means the technician arrives with the right parts on the van instead of arriving fast and empty-handed.
Where do I find the model number?
On the rating plate. On a range it is usually under the cooktop lip or behind the kick panel; on a built-in refrigerator it is normally on an interior wall near the top; on a dishwasher it is commonly on the edge of the door. A photograph of the plate is more useful to us than a typed number.

  • Frost kept rebuilding on the rear wall within a fortnight of me clearing it. He tested the defrost heater cold, showed me the open circuit on his meter, and fitted the heater and the bimetal together.

  • Loud grinding whenever it drained. A cherry pit had got past the filter into the drain pump. He removed it, tested the pump under load, and pointed out that the filter basket was cracked and letting debris by.

  • The warming drawer beside the grill stayed cold all season. He found the element open and the seal perished from sun on that side, replaced both, and refitted the cover that had been left off since the deck was rebuilt.
